Do It Yourself Wedding Ideas

Take a look at these wedding ideas spotlighted on Snippet and Ink. The bride enlisted a lot of help from family members to do it herself! Boxwood wreaths adorned with a simple white ribbon bow. Handmade birds were made out of the bride's grandmother's wedding dress. They make a whimsical cake topper on the wedding cake.

Love the lighted lanterns strung on strings of lights and the moss covered flower pot favors with herbs designating escort cards. It's your special day why not put your signature on it by being creative. If you take the time to plan ahead, you can come up with little touches that will make your wedding day memorable.

It's up to you how involved you want to get. You can do a little or a lot when it comes to decorating and serving your guests. Certainly make sure you don't overwhelm yourself but don't hesitate to ask friends and family to get involved if you want to put your own personal touch on your wedding day!

"Spring" Into Weddings!

Love the smell of Spring blossoms! With so many things starting to bloom in your yard and neighborhood, consider gathering blossoms of all colors and textures to incorporate into your wedding decor.

Cut some fruit tree blossom branches and tie together with a wide satin ribbon. Put them into a glass vase. White or purple alyssum ground cover would look great floating in a glass dish surrounding three to five slightly open roses carefully put in the center of the dish.

Look for ivy spilling over fences this time of year and cut some to put in table arrangements or your bridal bouquet. You can have your floral designer incorporate Spring blossoms into your wedding bouquet. If you choose a beautiful silk bouquet, there are many, many gorgeous blossom branches to choose from. A great variety of colors available too!

If by chance, you are planning an outdoor wedding, add some rustic or shabby chic looking birdhouses by the guest book or on your tables decorated with Spring blossoms! Put them around wedding photos displayed on a tree stumps or a table.

These are just a few ideas to get your creativity going so get your Spring on!

Dreamy Topiary

With Spring here my thoughts turn to green and bringing some of that green stuff inside. I found a great topiary "how to" over at Design Sponge. It doesn't take a green thumb or an expert to put this simple but beautiful topiary together.

You could change out the container or add a wide satin ribbon on wire in the corner of the base of the plant for a lovely wedding table decoration. Group several for an inviting display. Would look great next to wedding photos, bridal portrait , or family pictures on a table at your wedding reception or in your new home. You could make some small ones and give as gifts to wedding attendants.

It takes only a few supplies:

muhlenbekia or angel vine (love angel vine!) plant
container of your choice
potting soil
wire hanger
clippers

Take a look at this great tutorial from Design Sponge and take some time to do it yourself!

Simple, Easy, and Elegant Table Wedding Decor

If you are a "do it yourselfer", you can easily make a beautiful table centerpiece for guest tables, the guest book table, or a table where you display your wedding and bridal photos.

Garden Art
Don't forget to look in your garden for flowers that are in season. Or you can gather a nice variety of flowers from your local florist or garden nursery. Look around your home for a container that will give you the look you want. Add a faux berry wreath, put real cabbage roses, sunflowers, etc...whatever flower you want inside the container to get this simple but elegant look. Create an interesting display by putting the same color containers but non matching on the guest tables and create a garden art look for your wedding.

Antique Look
Got an old tarnished pitcher sitting around? (Go treasure hunting at your local secondhand store.) Get this look simply by gathering greenery from front yard bushes. Add three beautiful rosebuds. Tie a creamy or colored ribbon around the handle and let the ribbon fall carelessly from the handle of the pitcher. Add a wedding photo(s) to sit to the side of it and you have eye candy for your guests!

Glass with Colored Water
Use a drinking glass or other glass container of your choice. Then color the water with food coloring to match the color of your wedding colors. Set your glass container on a white plate. Stick one blooming rose in the water just before guests arrive and put a twig wreath (which you can make before hand from twigs in the yard or purchase) around the flower. Though very simple it makes a nice floral display!

There you have three simple, easy, and elegant floral centerpiece ideas! Happy Creating!
